Mangal Dosha
Manglik / Kuja Dosha — what it means for marriage.
What Mangal Dosha is
Mangal Dosha — also called being Manglik, or Kuja Dosha — occurs when Mars (Mangal) sits in certain houses of a birth chart. It is one of the factors traditionally considered when assessing a marriage match.
What causes it
Mangal Dosha is counted when Mars falls in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house — reckoned from the ascendant, and often also from the Moon and from Venus. The stricter the reckoning used, the more charts qualify.
Its traditional effects
Within the tradition it is associated with friction, delays in marriage, or tension in married life. These are beliefs, not guarantees — many people who are Manglik go on to have long and happy marriages.
When the dosha does not apply
Mangal Dosha is considered reduced or cancelled in several situations — for example when both partners are Manglik, when Mars is in its own or exalted sign, or through certain aspects and placements. Reading Manglik status without these nuances is misleading.
Remedies
Traditional remedies include specific pujas and charitable acts, and many families simply match two Manglik charts. For guidance specific to a chart, consult a qualified astrologer.
Checking Mangal Dosha with Suited
Suited flags Mangal Dosha for both charts, notes where a common cancellation may apply, and explains the finding in plain language rather than a bare yes or no.
