Nadi Dosha
The most heavily weighted factor in Guna Milan.
What Nadi Dosha is
Nadi is the eighth koota in Ashtakoot Guna Milan and carries the most points — 8 of 36. When both partners share the same Nadi, no points are awarded and a Nadi Dosha is said to occur.
The three nadis
Every Nakshatra falls into one of three nadis — Aadi, Madhya and Antya — loosely linked in tradition to constitution and health. An ideal match has partners in different nadis.
Why a shared nadi is a concern
A shared Nadi is traditionally associated with concerns about health and progeny, which is why it weighs so heavily. Along with Bhakoot, it is one of the two factors that can outweigh an otherwise high score.
When the dosha does not apply
Nadi Dosha is considered cancelled in several classical situations — for example when the partners share the same Moon sign but different Nakshatras, or the same Nakshatra but different padas, among others. This is why a same-nadi result should be read carefully rather than treated as an automatic rejection.
Nadi Dosha with Suited
Suited identifies the nadi of each partner, flags a Nadi Dosha where present, and notes where a classical exception may apply — with the reasoning explained in plain language.
